Traditionally the shade of royalty, purple has been fashionable for
the past several seasons. For spring and summer 2001, Calvin Klein opened
his runway show with several outfits in the royal shade. Shades of lavender
were also seen paired with Asian-inspired florals at Nanette
Lepore.

Trend: Fashion, American Style
Not quite your patriotic stars and stripes, when red, white, and blue
were combined on the runway, the effect was an effortless but crisp style.
Be careful when executing this trend- there is not a great leap between classy
and cutesey. Take your cue from Marc Jacobs, and keep the styles simple,
not trendy.
