Fashion Show: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Socks and heels
Sounds weird, right? Actually, this look was seen on runways from the hip new line Marc by Marc Jacobs to the whimsical, girly Cynthia Rowley. To achieve this look, you should wear thin socks with colorful stiletto pumps. Because this trend is a little more "out there," it would probably work best for a party or dance, rather than for wearing around town.

Suggestion: $65 at Nordstroms, Carlos By Santana

Fashion Show: Celine

Thick-strapped sandals
These, seen on the runways at Celine, have thick leather straps, and are sometimes decorated with grommets. They evoke both the military trend and the bondage theme seen on European runways. Nicole Kidman wore a pair to the Cannes Film Festival, where she was promoting Moulin Rouge. This trend looks best with a kneelength skirt, so the shoes are shown off without looking too racy. These would be a cute summer date shoe.

Suggestion: Carmela by Steve Madden, $59 at Nordstroms

Trend: Military
The military look is hot on all the runways, and it’s easy to incorporate the trend into your own wardrobe. The key to pulling this look off is to not over do it (no solid camo, please!) and to slim down traditional styles for a more feminine look. If you want to try this style, don’t head to Bill’s Army and Navy for a traditional set of fatigues. Your favorite stores will show the look in sleek skirts, tees, and dresses that show the sexier side of G.I. Jane!

Suggestion: Sleeveless camo w/ star tee, wetseal.com, $22
