Always go to a stylist you
trust and who has a good reputation, although they might be a little more
expensive the end product will be well worth the extra dough. A well-known
stylist is also more likely to work with you to achieve the desired look
and effect you're going for.
TIP:
Know the different types
of color applications such as caps, which allow for smaller highlights and
can offer a more natural look; or foil which gives more ability for contrast
and can be an easier method when highlighting longer hair.
TIP:
When the highlights are
finished and you're ready to show them off remember to ALWAYS wash with a
moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. It's a great idea to deep condition
once a week since highlighting hair tends to dry it out and strip the natural
moisture from the hair shaft.
TIP:
If you are getting a perm
or body wave after highlighting be sure to ask for one that is specially
formulated for highlighted hair.
