SUMMER HAIR CARE

The key for summer hairstyles is definitely laying off the harsh styling tools and nursing your hair to good health - keep away from the blowdrier, flatiron, curling iron, etc. and opt for more carefree styles...and always condition and protect!

1. Mist wet or dry hair heavily with a yummy smelling leave-in conditioner and pull hair up into a loose bun or a french twist. When your hair is exposed to the sun it will get dried out, so the leave-in conditoner won't make your hair greasy - it will protect and soften it. You can even take the bun out later in the day for some pretty waves.

2. Protect your hair - use a spray-on hair product with UV shields no matter how you style your hair. If you color your hair, you'll want to use a color protectant as well to make sure your color doesn't fade or change in the sun.... and wear lots of hats! (Don't forget the SPF on your face and the rest of your body - much more important than your hair)

3. If you're going swimming, smooth on a nice, thick conditioner  and pull your hair back before jumping in.

<4. Spritz hair with leave-in conditoner. Make sure you find one that is okay to use on dry hair so it doesn't make your hair clumpy or stiff. Part your hair on the side and gather hair into two low ponytails. Secure with a pretty ponytail holder.

5. Mist a texturizing spray in your hair that's specially made to give you "beachy" tousled waves. Try John Frieda's Ocean Waves Sea Spray Texturizing Styler. You can try to make your own by mixing water with seasalt and some conditioner. Spritz on and tousle hair. Forget about looking perfect - just let the light summer breeze style your hair. You could also put the top half up in a cute ponytail if you want a slightly different look.

TIP: You can keep simple updos looking a lot more stylish by getting some pretty side-swept bangs. This will also help because you'll be chopping off all the nasty dead ends on the front layers of your hair!
