TIPS FOR NAIL BITERS
1.
Bitter nailpolish - There are some nailpolishes made specially for
nail biters - they have a bitter taste to keep you from biting your nails.
Try Sally Hansen No-Bite formula.
2. Keep your nails painted with a
couple coats of a dark color - it's no fun getting chips of nailpolish stuck
in your teeth or on your lips/tongue.
3. Get a professional manicure -
After getting your nails manicured, you won't want to destroy them! Check
out the weekly nail care guide we have included below to keep them in tiptop
shape!
4. Put some Tips onto your nails
- Go to your nearest Nail salon and get tips added on. It'll be very
difficult to try to bit off those hard acrylic tips!
5. Think about what you are
doing - When you bite your nails, you're separating the nail from the
skin, allowing dirty bacteria and chemicals into the underlying tissue, which
can cause an infection. Not fun!
6. Clip your nails with a
nail clipper - Keep your nails short so you won't have anything to bite off!
Trimming nails short helps prevent nail damage.
7. Test yourself - See if you can
go without biting for a full week (maybe even longer). Once you see your
nail starting to grow, and how pretty your fingers look WITH NAILS, you won't
want to go back biting them!
8. Throw the habit away - Different
people bite for different reasons. But the most common is nervousness. When
you're scared or nervous, try to find something relaxing to calm your nerves
(not nail biting!). Try doing something ELSE with your hands - tapping them
on your lap, holding something, etc.
9. Use a nail hardener - Hardeners
strengthen your nails. Apply a couple layers and let dry - it'll be tougher
to bite through. Plus, biting your nails weakens them over time and your
nails end up trashed. Nail hardeners and strengtheners can help nurse
your nails back to health.
10. Gloves - When it's cool outside,
start wearing gloves all the time! When you're at home, you can slather on
a super-rich hand cream and slip on some cotton gloves for the night. Not
only will this be an excellent treat for your hands and nails, it will block
you from having something to bite. |
