PEDICURE:
1.
Remove any nail polish with acetone or non-acetone polish remover.
2. With a medium-grit
file, file and shape all 10 nails. For toenails, it's especially important
not to remove the corners of the nails--they should be square with slightly
rounded corners. Clipping out the corners can result in painful ingrown nails.
From underneath the nail, you may want to file the corner slightly so it
won't grow into the skin.
3.Soak your feet
in warm water for about 5 minutes to soften the cuticles and bottom of the
feet. Again, use a shower gel or mild soap in the water.
4. Remove one foot
at a time from the water and towel dry.
5. Apply a cuticle
cream to the cuticles and rub in. try: Avon's Advanced Mira-Cuticle Vanishing
Complex
6. With an orange-wood
stick or cuticle pusher, gently push cuticles back.
7. Put that foot
back into the water and repeat steps 4-6 on the other foot.
8. Remove the first
foot and, with a foot file or fine pumice, file any dead skin from the bottom
of the foot. try: The Body Shop's Pumice Foot Scrub. Never use a razor blade
or scissors for this! Don't file too much or you'll have sore skin! You may
want to add a drop of cuticle cream or lotion to the foot file. Rinse and
dry both feet thoroughly.
9. Massage your
feet with lotion. try: Body Classics Peppermint Foot Lotion.
10.With a cleanser
or alcohol on a cotton ball, remove any lotion from the nails.
11. Put toe separators,
cotton balls or those packing "popcorns" between toes.
12. Apply a thin
base coat, let dry. Then apply two coats of color (drying between coats).
try: L'Oreal Jet-Set in Swift. Now, apply a top coat and let dry. Apply the
polish thinly and don't wear shoes for several hours since polish takes that
long to dry thoroughly! Use the orange-wood stick or a polish corrector pen
to clean up any polish mistakes.
