DOUBLE CLEANSING
Page 2 of 4
In addition to cotton pads and a clean towel, you
need an oil-based cleanser, foamy cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. Here
are some tips for while you are shopping for these items.
 |
* Oil-based Cleanser: This is a wipe-off
type of cleanser and is usually a cream formula. Don't worry about buying
one of these that is specifically for your skin type, what you need is something
that quickly dissolves eye makeup and stubborn
lipsticks.

* Foamy Cleanser: You probably already
use one of these. This is a cleanser that, when combined with water, foams
up and gets soapy, then rinses off. Make sure that this product is for your
skin type. It should dissolve dirt and grime on your skin and contain some
ingredients that are good for your complexion.

* Toner: A toner is used to remove
any excess residue from your foamy cleanser and prepare your skin for
moisturizer. Choose your toner carefully, and don't be afraid to spend a
little extra money on it. If you buy a toner that is cheap, it will actually
add residue to your face instead of removing it. Sometimes a toner is called
a "moisture lotion," but do not confuse it with a moisturizer - they are
two seperate things.

* Moisturizer: Moisturizers are basically
used to add moisture to your face that may have been lost during the cleansing
process. There is no mystery here, you probably already use a moisturizer.
The question is if it is the right moisturizer for your skin. Even if you
have dry skin, your moisturizer needs to be oil-free. You'll want to spend
a little extra money on a moisturizer (as well as a toner, above) because
if your moisturizer is cheap it will make your complexion worse instead of
improve it.
